R&D Process Engineering Intern
Location: Dongtan, Korea
About the Internship
Our internship program provides a hands-on experience in the fast-paced and exciting semiconductor industry. Our interns will work alongside industry projects and gain valuable insights into our core engineering roles. This program is designed to grow and shape the industry leaders of tomorrow, offering a chance to learn, develop and build the skills needed for a successful career in the semiconductor field.
What to Expect
This position is a paid internship that is expected to start September 2025 and continue through the Fall, December 2025. The duration will be 16 weeks, full-time and on-site. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in a full-time academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for our Early Career opportunities.
What You’ll Do
At ASM, the Process Engineering team works on semiconductor processing and analytical equipment to research, develop and optimize processes focused on oxidation, annealing, curing, Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD, PEALD), Epitaxy or PECVD for logic, memory, analog, power, and MEMS applications.
About Your Roles
- Learn about ALD technology contributing to the film optimization against customer deliverables.
- Contribute to improvement of PEALD metal oxide and nitride films properties and learn about the PEALD reactor, technology and characterization techniques used.
- Optimize PEALD process parameters to meet target requirements and correlate electrical characterization to physical film properties
- Understand and develop wafer uniformity knobs for materials thickness and compositions.
- Analyze and document the correlations between on-wafer results and hardware parameters
What You’ll Bring
- Self-motivated problem solving skills in a systematic way
- Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering
- Knowledge of material characterization
- Preferred knowledge of device fabrication
- Preferred experience of plasma reactors
