Role Overview
Coupang’s Retail Product organization operates at the heart of what we do. As the Director, Business Analytics for Pricing, you will be instrumental in defining and executing data-driven pricing strategies that are vital to Coupang’s profitability and success. Reporting to the Director of Data Science and Analytics for the Retail Product domain, you will lead a team dedicated to delivering insights that inform our Retail Product initiatives related to pricing.
In this role, you will develop comprehensive pricing analytics strategies that align with our business objectives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify optimization opportunities. Your expertise in advanced analytics will enable you to create pricing systems and policies, ensuring our pricing decisions are agile and informed by real-time data.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams across Pricing, Retail Commerce, 3P Commerce, and Promotions to support decision-making and help develop key metrics. This role offers the opportunity to own, lead, and deliver projects from start to finish—collaborating with stakeholders and developers to ensure the highest quality and on-time delivery.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of analytics, experimentation, and strategic insights, with a proven track record in pricing analytics within e-commerce. Strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative spirit are essential for success in this fast-paced environment.
What You Will Do
- Lead and grow a high-performing analytics team focused on pricing strategy and operations.
- Define and execute the analytics roadmap aligned with company-wide strategic goals.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver actionable insights that drive revenue and margin growth.
- Identify and implement process improvements through data-driven automation and technology.
- Analyze market trends and competitor pricing to inform strategic pricing decisions.
- Ensure data quality and availability in collaboration with Data Engineering.
- Present key findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Stay current with analytics innovations, retail trends, and pricing methodologies.
Basic Qualifications
Experience
- 10+ years of experience in analytics leadership roles within top-tier global tech or eCommerce companies.
- Proven success in driving business impact through data insights, experimentation, and strategic reporting.
- Expertise in analytical tools and languages (e.g., Python, R/SAS, SQL, Tableau, Power BI).
- Strong understanding of retail pricing, operations, and consumer behavior.
- Experience presenting to C-level executives and influencing strategic decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Math, Statistics, Engineering, Economics); Master’s or PhD preferred.
