3M Korea is seeking a product development engineer for the Personal Safety Division (PSD) in Korea. The successful candidate will be responsible for mechanical design tasks in projects that involve the design, development, and commercialization of various types of respirators and personal protective equipment products. From the initial stages of the project to the product launch, they will contribute with creative concept-making, problem-solving skills, and thorough validation capabilities. Key Responsibilities
- Designing and developing industrial personal safety protective equipment products, including gas/dust respirators with electronic components, accessories, safety helmets, fall protection harnesses/ carabiners etc.
- Working creatively and proactively with local and international cross-functional teams to initiate and to proceed with new product development.
- Conducting searches for similar patents related to the developing product, devising avoidance strategies, drafting, and proceeding with the application process.
- Developing mechanical designs for plastic/silicone rubber/metal products and reviewing productivity and reliability.
- Collaborating with designers, external mechanical designers, and peer developers in hard goods, soft goods, and electrical hardware.
- Engaging in concept development, modeling, prototype creation, initial mold development, production mold development.
- Preparing specifications for mass production through 2D drawing creation, prototype dimension and performance verification, and managing product changes post-production.
- Performing collaboration and data management through the PLM system.

- 개발제품관련 유사 특허 검색, 회피방안 강구, 초안작성 및 출원 절차 진행
- 플라스틱/실리콘, 고무/금속 제품의 기구 파트를 설계 및 개발하고 관련 부서와 함께 생산성 및 신뢰성 검토.
- 디자이너, 외부 기구 설계자 및 Hard goods, Soft goods, Electrical Hardware 분야의 동료 엔지니어들과 원활한 협력.
- 컨셉 개발, 모델링, 시제품 제작, 초기 금형 개발, 생산 금형 개발에 주도적인 참여.
- 2D 도면 작성, 시제품 치수 및 성능 검증 등을 통해 제품 대량 생산을 위한 시방을 준비하고 생산 후 제품변경점 관리.
- PLM 시스템을 통한 공동작업 및 데이터 관리 수행
Knowledge and Skillsets
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical design for plastic, rubber injection products, and metal press/die casting products (3D modeling and 2D design using CREO / Advanced surface design).
- Experience in collaboration and management with vendors in the fields of mold/injection/sheet metal press/diecast.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Ability to business travel internationally without restrictions.

- 금형/사출/판금 프레스/다이캐스트 분야의 공급업체와의 협력 및 관리 경험.
- 영어 읽기, 쓰기, 말하기 능력.
- 해외 출장에 결격 사유가 없는 자
Preferred Additional Requirements
- Advanced degrees in mechanical engineering, material science, product design, or from an accredited university.
- Experience with other professional 3D modeling and PLM tools is preferred.
- Experience in Mold flow, Stress/Deformation analysis and related tool operation capability. (CAE e.g. Anaqua or equivalent)
