Role Overview
The Global Mobility and Global Business Travel function manages the relocations, expatriate assignments, and business travel of Coupang employees across international borders, providing logistical and cultural support while ensuring compliance with immigration and tax laws. The function plays a crucial role in Coupang’s ability to attract and retain the very best talent internationally, ensuring candidates and employees are set up for success. As Coupang’s international footprint continues to expand, we are seeking a Director of Product to develop the vision and strategy, and most importantly, deliver upon an ambitious roadmap for our Global Mobility and Business Travel technology platforms and applications.
The goal is to deliver improved, personalized experiences for employees and their families who are moving across borders, while streamlining and automating internal and vendor processes. This leader will therefore be responsible for building and scaling a product ecosystem that integrates Global Mobility, Travel, Immigration, Tax, and relocation services into a seamless digital experience. To achieve this, s/he will partner cross-functionally, including with HR, Tech, Legal, Payroll, and external vendors, to identify high-friction processes and reimagine them using AI and automation.
The Director of Product will drive the full product lifecycle of this ecosystem, from discovery and design to launch and optimization. This role requires strategic vision, technical fluency, and an appreciation of global mobility and international travel challenges. As this is a newly created role, the successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to shape the function and build the team from the ground up. This will require resilience, and a hands-on, roll-up-your sleeves approach.
What You Will Do
- Define and execute the product strategy for Global Mobility, including Immigration and Global Business Travel, to deliver streamlined and automated workflows alongside an improved employee/family onboarding experience.
- Identify pain points in relocation, visa, and compliance workflows and redesign them using intelligent automation and AI-native tools.
- Build and manage a roadmap of mobility tech initiatives, balancing innovation with regulatory compliance and operational scalability.
- Drive everything from business case development to budget planning and acquisition.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to deliver integrated solutions across immigration, tax, payroll, and relocation services.
- Establish success metrics and guardrails to measure impact, ensure compliance, and continuously improve the Global Mobility experience.
- Stay ahead of global mobility trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to inform product strategy.
Basic Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in a senior role within a Product Management, Engineering, or technical consulting role.
- Proven track record of launching and scaling tech-enabled ERP Products or Solutions (e.g. within HCM, HR, Payroll, etc.).
- Track record of delivering transformation initiatives/projects with demonstrable ROI.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills with proven ability to influence others, collaborating with both technical and non-technical team members.
- Deep-dive analytical skills that can take ambiguous problems and translate them into insights, scoped features, and projects.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
- Masters degree in a quantitative field (Business, engineering, statistics) or equivalent experience.
- Start-up experience with an ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment and changing priorities is highly valued.
- Experience working in international environments and influencing across globally distributed teams.
- Some understanding of HR global mobility regulations, visa processes, and relocation logistics.
