Introduction to the job
In the role as Classification Specialist you are part of the classification team and work in an international environment with a presence on three continents. Correct export control and customs classifications, screened and approved business transactions and therefore a compliant supply chain is not only essential to enable the ASML organization to meet the commitments we made to our customers, but compliance is also considered to be one of the core values within ASML.
Classification within ASML is a centralized process. The classification specialist will be part of a team of classification specialists located in 3 regions (ASML headquarters in Veldhoven, the Netherlands; in San Diego, CA, USA; and Hwasung-Si, in South Korea). The team is globally responsible for export control and customs classifications and operational transaction screening activities.
The classification team is part of the ASML Business Services (ABS), positioned in the Finance department of ASML. The classification specialist reports to the Manager of the US-Asia TDM (Trade data management) team.

Ensure export control and customs compliance with a focus on a correct and compliant classification process, and resolving SAP GTS legal-control blocked shipments.
Job Description
Job will be located in South Korea and the successful candidate is expected to work with limited supervision from the US.
As a classifications specialist you will be:
- Performing customs and export control classification;
- Determining country of origin for both preferential and non-preferential purposes;
- Handling Sanctioned Parties List and Legal Control screening blocks in SAP GTS;
- Maintaining and improving the master classification database ;
- Functioning as the go-to person in case of classification related questions from the authorities and/or internal stakeholders;
- Support the business and participate in different projects such as the implementation of a new ERP system
- Identify and implement process improvements (for example via robotizing)
Education and experience
You are a licensed customs broker (KR broker exam) and/or have a minimum of 3 years relevant (technical) experience in Customs and Export Controls classification within a multinational, law firm, technology or a consulting company.
Technical background (degree in physics or engineering) and/or knowledge and experience with SAP ECC and GTS and/or Oracle and Oracle GTM is preferred. You have experience working in a multidisciplinary environment and in multi-cultural teams.

Working time
The ASML business requires a 24/7 support in relation to classification. This full service level will be realized by the team in the Netherlands, US and South Korea, in combination with a backup call-center team to cover the out of office hours outside the NL, KR and US business hours.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
